Revocation of registration

Registration will cease if a genetic counsellor does not apply for renewal of their registration by the renewal deadline, or does not pass their renewal application. In this situation the genetic counsellor can send a portfolio according to the Late Renewals/Lapsed registration criteria under the Renewal of Registration Section.

As genetic counselling practice must adhere to the national standards and law in the country of the practicioner, the EBMG does not arbitrate in questions of a genetic counsellor's competence within their institution.  However, should the board be informed that disciplinary action or dismissal has taken place of the genetic counsellor due to a breach of the code of conduct of genetic professionals, then the EBMG may revoke registration.  This would be done via the complaints procedure.
